‘Join Hands to Respond to the Pandemic and Tackle Challenges, Inject Impetus to Our Development’: 2022 Non-Profit Training Classes Successfully Ended

In June 2022, following the principles of the special online meeting convened in May, which is themed by ‘Unite as One in Response to the Pandemic and Join Hands to March forward’ to help boost the development of senior care organizations, China Association of Social Welfare and Senior Services (hereinafter referred to as CASWSS) carefully organized and developed a series of non-profit training classes themed by ‘Join Hands to Respond to the Pandemic and Tackle Challenges, Inject Impetus to Our Development’ according to the requirements of regular pandemic prevention and control measures and the needs of the members. The series of classes are aimed at older persons and service teams of senior care organizations to help defuse and relieve their mental pressure and promote advanced experiences in team culture building and management risk prevention and control. More than 15,000 colleagues from senior care organizations in 29 provinces participated. 

Feng Xiaoli, President of CASWSS attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. 

At the opening ceremony on June 7th, Feng Xiaoli, President of CASWSS extended her sincere appreciation to members for their organizing older persons and work teams to participate in the online training. She also saluted the working staff on the forefront to fight against the epidemic and serve the elderly. She mainly introduced the three features of this series of training classes. Firstly, they are designed with strong pertinence. To keep aligned with the members’ urgent needs, CASWSS developed two courses, namely Recognition and Diffusion of Older Persons’ Anxiety and Depression under the Pandemic, and Pressure and Emotion Management for Working Staffs of Senior Care Organizations under the Pandemic, to help defuse the pressure and anxiety of older persons and work staffs in senior care organizations. Secondly, the courses are designed with clear priorities. They centre on team culture building for front-line servers who have been in the long fight against the epidemic, to strengthen their cohesion and capability. Thirdly, the courses are designed to address painstaking issues. Outstanding managers are invited to share their experiences in responding to the challenges faced by senior care organizations under the pandemic, including the increasing risks and management difficulties, etc. President Feng Xiaoli was eager to see this series of non-profit training would efficiently serve the members and help them surmount challenges, leading them to serve the elderly and enhance management with stronger confidence and fresher spirits, so that members could play their due role in implementing the government departments’ supportive policies on assisting senior care organizations to pull through hard times.

There are six specialists giving lectures for the non-profit training and they delivered systematic classes with theories and case studies highly combined.

Guo Zhihua, Vice Director of Department of Clinical Psychology of China Rehabilitation Research Center gave the lesson on Recognition and Diffusion of Older Persons’ Anxiety and Depression under the Pandemic, sharing the symptoms, recognition and treatment of older persons’ anxiety and depression under the pandemic. In his evaluation of these series of non-profit training, he pointed out that, ‘ First of all, it is very timely for CASWSS to hold these series of non-profit training classes, and the curriculum design is closely in line with the needs of older persons in senior care organizations. Secondly, the students showed active engagement. They listened to the courses carefully, reflected on them seriously and raised questions enthusiastically. Thirdly, the training team of CASWSS showcased their high professionalization and efficiency. He expressed his expectation to keep aligned with CASWSS and continue to inject impetus into the students.

Liu Songhuai, Director of Department of Psychology of China Rehabilitation Research Center gave the lesson on Pressure and Emotion Management for Working Staffs of Senior Care Organizations under the Pandemic, imparting knowledge of pressure from the following five aspects: pressure self-test, what pressure is, the meaning of pressure’s existence, pressure’s relation with us and the strategy of managing pressure and emotions. He said emotionally after the lecture that this series of non-profit classes not only provides psychological care and support for senior care organizations’ servers under the epidemic, but also enhances the employees’ capability of recognizing and securing older persons’ pressure and emotions, thus providing them better services. He extended his sincere appreciation to CASWSS and stated that in the future, the members and working staff will unite more closely around CASWSS with President Feng Xiaoli at its core, join hands to work tenaciously in this big family of mutual support, and leave our footprints of unity and progress further and stronger on the land of elderly care and older persons’ livelihood. 

Specialist Liu Youli gave the lesson on How Do Older Persons Strengthen Immunity Through Nutrition under the Pandemic, imparting knowledge on the following aspects of older persons’ physiological characteristics and risks under the pandemic, older persons’ immunity improvement, and balanced nutrition improvement. She commented that this lecture help us embrace, with a scientific attitude, the idea that ‘ I myself am a good doctor’, and it also help us to provide through real actions our sincere support and practical knowledge for older persons under the pandemic, which is very meaningful. She hopes to follow CASWSS along and benefit more older persons.

Specialist Liu Aiping gave the lesson on The Incentive of Team Culture in Our Fight against the Pandemic, sharing advanced experiences from the following three aspects: effective epidemic prevention and control measures in senior care organizations, incentive measures through team culture and successful experiences of team management in Liu’s institute. She noted that, ‘As a specialist as well as a student myself, I have attended many training courses held by CASWSS, which impressed me with its orderly organization and fine management. The students’ passion and thirst for knowledge also enlightened my enthusiasm for teaching, and I hope that we can join hands to encourage each other on our road forward. 

Specialist Hua Ling taught the lesson of Experiences Share on Risks Prevention and Control in Senior Care Organizations under the Pandemic, imparting knowledge from the following four perspectives: the latest COVID-19 prevention policies, the major difficulties for risk management during the closed-off period, COVID-19-related contingency response measures in senior care organizations and regular COVID-19 prevention and control suggestions. She noted that the course of elderly services during the pandemic is both a challenge for us and a chance to promote our service skills and embrace a renewed future.  We should be the master to handle our time efficiently and be refined elderly servers under the leadership of CASWSS.

Specialist Yuan Zhi gave the lesson of Exploration and Practices on Elderly Service Management under the Pandemic, imparting knowledge on the following three aspects: enhancing self-capability and services, focusing on efficiency and regulated leadership, integrating industry and finance while cutting costs and increasing efficiency. After the lecture, she pointed out emotionally, ‘Two heads are better than one. I am very grateful that CASWSS, as our parent in the elderly services industry, has always been caring for us, breeding us, and leading us to keep thinking and exploring, strive forward courageously and dedicate our boundless love to serving the elderly.’

 


Specialists gave non-profit lectures respectively. Bian Jing, Director of Training Department of CASWSS hosted the non-profit training.

Wang Jiawei, Administrative Director of Inner Mongolia Longevity and Rehabilitation Elderly Care Group Co.Ltd: I very much appreciate CASWSS’s efforts to organize this series of non-profit training. The series of non-profit training classes successfully ended. CASWSS will continue to follow the guidance of the industry’s needs for professional talents and adhere to the principle of serving the members and colleagues in the industry. CASWSS will cooperate closely with provincial elderly services associations to effectively organize the members and employees in relevant institutions to participate in vocational skill training at all levels and in all categories, in a view to providing intellectual support for standardization fostering and service brands cultivation in the elderly services industry.
